San Diego Chargers’ Luis Castillo to Speak at Spirit of the Barrio Luncheon

Tania Luviano of Mi San Diego TV 43 Will Serve As Event Emcee

San Diego, CA- Standout San Diego Chargers’ rookie lineman Luis Castillo will speak at Family Health Centers of San Diego’s next Spirit of the Barrio luncheon on March 17, 2006 from 12 noon to 1:00 PM. Luis Castillo was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft. In his first year, Castillo made an immediate impact on the team when he stepped into the starting line-up in week 2. He started in 15 games and racked up 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Castillo will talk about his experiences in his first year as a professional football player and his journey to fulfilling his dream of playing major league sports.
 
Mi San Diego TV 43 Anchor and NBC 7/39 Reporter Tania Luviano will emcee the event. Tania, who grew up in Tijuana, knows first hand the issues the region faces. She is the face of the new Mi San Diego TV 43 and was recently named one of the 2006 “50 People to Watch” by San Diego Magazine.
 
“We are thrilled that Luis Castillo and Tania Luviano have chosen to support Family Health Centers of San Diego and our mission to provide accessible, quality health care to low income, medically underserved individuals in San Diego,” said Jennette Lawrence, FHCSD Director of Government and Community Relations. 
 
The event will be held on March 17, 2006 from 12 noon to 1:00pm at Logan Heights Family Health Center located at 1809 National Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113. Tickets to the event are $20 a person or $175 for a table of ten and can be purchased by calling (619) 515-2370.
 
FHCSD is a private, non-profit organization that provides comprehensive, accessible, quality healthcare services to persons of all income levels, with a special commitment to low income, medically underserved individuals. Since 1986, the bimonthly Spirit of the Barrio luncheon has been held to raise funds for capital projects, programs, and services operated by Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD). Over 400 supporters, including prominent corporate, political, and community leaders, attend each event to enjoy a famous tamale lunch and listen to notable speakers.
