Health Education

Individual counseling is provided to help our patients self-manage their chronic diseases, improve their health and lead a healthier lifestyle. We offer nutrition and health information for several chronic diseases and weight management. Please download the following tools to help manage chronic conditions:

Tobacco Cessation Program

Break the habit and live healthier! We offer group classes that support your decision to quit smoking. Five sessions, lasting 50 minutes each, include topics on behaviors and activities that can help break the smoking habit. View our English and Spanish fliers for more information. For additional resources and support, consider contacting California Smokers’ Helpline, which can assist you in developing a quitting plan that’s right for you by working one-on-one with a trained telephone counselor. Text messaging and online help also available! Services are available in multiple languages. Visit www.nobutts.org or call 1-800-NO-BUTTS to get started or learn more.

Healthy Habits, Healthy Kids

Designed for the whole family, this weight management program is for kids 2 to 18 years old who face health challenges because of their weight. The program focuses on food groups, meal planning, healthy school lunch choices, snacks, how to read food labels and more! Click here for more information.

Baby Basics

This class is ideal for new parents or those who just want a refresher. We cover a variety of topics, including basic infant care, such as feeding, safety and bathing, how to properly install a car seat, the recommended vaccination schedule and various techniques to soothe a crying baby. For more information, contact us at (619) 906-4621.

Nutrition Education (Newborn to 12 months)

Proper nutrition is a fundamental part of a baby’s first 12 months of life, allowing him or her to reach growth milestones. This class includes newborn topics, such as breastfeeding support and how to prepare and store baby formula, as well as topics to help guide you as your child ages, such as what foods to avoid giving your child and how to introduce a sippy cup. For more information, please call (619) 906-4621.

Toddler Nutrition Education (12 to 36 months)

The first few years of life are very important for a child’s overall health and development. During these years a child will experience physical, social, emotional and educational growth, which requires proper nutrition, adequate rest and physical activity. These sessions will provide information on nutrition, safety, care and resources for parents during these critical years.
