Rylee Scott, M.D.
University of California, San Diego School of Medicine
 Originally from San Jose, Rylee moved to San Diego in 2006, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, San Diego. His health care interests include working with underserved communities, patient education, chronic disease management and diabetes. In his free time, he enjoys exploring new parts of San Diego with his wife Mary, reading science fiction and playing board games.

 


 

Lagina Rashell Scott, M.D.
UCLA/Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science
Born and raised in San Diego, Lagina graduated from San Diego State University in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. In 2017, she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Her professional interests include community medicine and adolescent medicine with a focus on helping youth, homeless and low-income populations. She was involved in Partners for Progress, a mentorship program for high school students interested in medical careers, the Association of Black Woman Physicians and the Black Student Science Organization at SDSU, as well as various community health fairs and homeless clinics throughout medical school. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, ziplining and kayaking and more importantly spending time with her friends and family for cheer events, sporting events, family vacations and birthdays.

 


 

Deborah Lee, D.O.
Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine
Deborah was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Taiwan, though she considers Encinitas home. She received her bachelor’s degree in molecular cell biology with emphasis in neurobiology and a minor in Japanese. Her professional interests in medicine include geriatrics, end-of-life care and community medicine. In her free time, Deborah enjoys all forms of exercise including tennis, yoga, hiking and strength training. She enjoys cooking, listening to music, reading and playing the piano and cello.

 


 

Austin Mandoyan, M.D.
University of California, San Diego School of Medicine
Austin is originally from Santa Barbara, but spent most of his life in Los Angeles. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biology and later earned his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego. Prior to medical school, he was awarded the St. Francis CCE Exemplary Service Award, the St. Francis CCE Honorable Dedication Award, the Howard A. Schneiderman Prize for Neurobiology Research and is a multiple recipient of UC Irvine’s Sports Medicine Athletic Service Award. After his residency, he plans to attend a Sports Medicine fellowship and return to underserved communities to work with and care for local competitive athletes of all ages. In his spare time he enjoys playing and watching sports, especially soccer and football and if there are no games to be watched, he likes going to the movies to watch the latest action films.

 


 

Kevin Wang, M.D.
University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine
Kevin is originally from Arcadia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology. Later he attended Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and received his Doctor of Medicine degree. His professional interests include socially and politically conscious medicine. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys food and cooking, attending music festivals and concerts, hiking, nature and camping, as well as traveling to new places.

 


 

Tricia Valenzuela, M.D.
University of California, San Diego School of Medicine

Though she is originally from Sacramento, Tricia moved to Santa Barbara to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in anthropology with a minor in Spanish. Later still, she moved to San Diego to attend the University of California, San Diego, where she earned her degree in medicine. Her health care interests include substance abuse and mental health, working with fostered youth and women’s health. In her spare time, Tricia cares for her family and her little girl, enjoys seeing all the National Parks and backpacking. She also likes sewing, gardening and other DIY projects.
