COVID-19 Updated Vaccine

INFORMACIÓN EN ESPAÑOL

FHCSD recommends everyone ages six months and older get the updated COVID-19 vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect you and your loved ones from severe illness.

Based on guidance from the FDA and CDC, FHCSD offers booster doses for all patients who previously received the COVID-19 vaccine. Anyone over the age of six months who received their last COVID-19 vaccine more than two months ago is now eligible for the updated vaccine.

Like the flu shot, your health care provider recommends you receive a new COVID-19 vaccine every year. Both COVID-19 and the flu change over time, creating new variants of each virus. While a booster helps increase your previous immunity, the updated vaccine builds a new immune response to the new variants. You can also safely receive the flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same appointment.

According to the CDC, any of the COVID-19 vaccines can be used for the updated vaccination, regardless of the vaccine used for primary vaccination. Although FHCSD will generally provide you with the same vaccine you were originally vaccinated with, supply may sometimes be low. In those cases, we will mix vaccines, which is still safe and effective.
