COVID-19 Booster Shots

Información en español

We know you may have questions about COVID-19 booster shots.

Based on guidance from the FDA and CDC, FHCSD offers booster doses for all patients who previously received the COVID-19 vaccine. Anyone over the age of 12 who completed the Pfizer series more than 5 months ago, Moderna vaccine series more than 6 months ago or had a J&J vaccine more than 2 months ago is now eligible for a booster. As of May 23, FHCSD will offer booster shots to eligible 5 to 11 years olds. For more information about the pediatric vaccine, click here.

A second booster dose is now available for people over the age of 50 or who have certain immunocompromising conditions. If you received your first booster dose more than 4 months ago, you may be eligible. You must make an appointment with your provider to determine if the second booster is recommended for you.

According to the CDC, any of the COVID-19 vaccines can be used for the booster vaccination, regardless of the vaccine used for primary vaccination. Although FHCSD will generally provide you with the same vaccine you were originally vaccinated with, supply may sometimes be low. In those cases, we will mix vaccines, which is still safe and effective.
