Family Health Centers of San Diego offers an outpatient elective rotation in psychiatry medicine for fourth year medical students. This psychiatry elective rotation is based at various FHCSD locations in order to showcase a variety of specialties. Students are paired with senior residents or psychiatry teaching faculty and will gain exposure to community psychiatry for the medically underserved patient population unique to FHCSD. Students will also spend Wednesday afternoons attending didactics with the psychiatry residents.
NOTICE
The outpatient elective rotation will not be offered during AY2026-2027.
Faculty are currently prioritizing resident education. The program hopes to offer a medical student elective again in the future.
