Reach Out and Read is a program that gives books to families during well-child visits from birth through age five.
Our pediatricians write “prescriptions to read,” and every family is given a book to read together. For many children, the books we provide are the only books in their home.
Please support our program by making a financial contribution, hosting a book drive or donating new or gently loved books in English or Spanish.
In 2023, FHCSD sent home more than 10,000 colorful, new books in 10 different languages that our patients speak at home. In addition, we were able to share hundreds of donated used books in our waiting rooms. Learn what makes this program so important from chief of pediatrics, Dr. Marsha Spitzer, here.
