In partnership with the Healthy Americas Foundation and the National Alliance for Hispanic Health (NAHH), FHCSD hosted the health and wellness event to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles while celebrating the positive role of Hispanic culture in health. Established in 2006, ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® is the nation’s largest annual event promoting healthy lifestyles in Hispanic communities.

The representatives presented a proclamation for ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!®, applauding its commitment to encouraging health and wellness through engaging programs and activities in San Diego.

“The County of San Diego is committed to recognizing and honoring organizations and individuals that are dedicated to the best ideals of public service and ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® is one such worthy organization,” said Andrew Harvey, a representative from the Office of County Supervisor and Board Vice Chair Nora Vargas.

Hundreds of participants gathered to enjoy live music, obstacle courses, opportunity drawings and Zumba classes. FHCSD and partnering organizations provided 16 education booths, free health screenings and onsite COVID-19 vaccinations.

“Family Health Centers of San Diego was founded over 50 years ago in the heart of San Diego’s Latino community,” said Fran Butler-Cohen, CEO of Family Health Centers of San Diego. “We feel honored to be recognized for providing health and wellness resources to support the communities we serve each day.”
