Family Health Centers of San Diego is dedicated to the health and safety of our community. In order to stop the spread of COVID-19, we have taken the following precautions to help keep our patients healthy:
Clinics have increased sanitization practices.
Although we have always ensured high standards of sanitization, we have increased the number of cleanings that occur throughout the day and have trained additional staff in sanitizing exam rooms and patient areas. In addition to dedicated staff members cleaning around the clock, front desk staff and medical assistants ensure sanitizing happens before and after each patient in waiting areas.
Patients are pre-screened for COVID-19 symptoms before entering the clinic.
We have implemented systems to segregate sick patients from well persons and screening patients from tents in our parking lots, or at the entrance of our clinics, to decrease virus spread to other patients and our health care workers.
Pre-screening allows us to separate healthy patients from sick patients and prevent the spread of disease. When you arrive, please be sure to listen to the instructions of staff and answer all questions accurately so we can provide you the most appropriate care.
No patients will be turned away, regardless of symptoms.
We will see all patients, including those with COVID-19 symptoms. This ensures emergency rooms and hospitals have the resources they need to treat more severe cases, and people with mild to moderate symptoms have the information and tools they need to take care of themselves at home.
FHCSD offers telehealth appointments.
Telehealth appointments offer you the same affordable, high-quality health care through phone calls or interactive videos with your provider for non-emergency care. You will not have to visit the clinic to continue to receive care. Call (619) 515-2300 to find out if your appointment can be completed over the phone or through video.
Mental health and substance use counseling are available through telehealth visits.
Mental health services including counseling and medication management, as well as MAT, are more critical than ever. You may continue to receive these services without having to go to one of our clinics or counseling centers. Call to verify the appropriate paperwork is on file.
COVID-19 testing is completed at FHCSD.
FHCSD will process COVID-19 tests in our own lab, using the same machine as many hospitals. This will allow us to process over 1,000 tests per week and get results to our patients faster.
