Certified enrollment specialists are available at all of our clinic sites to assist patients with insurance enrollment in Medi-Cal or Covered California. Medi-Cal enrollment ensures access to a full scope of medical care, continuous care and support compliance with care. Our staff is also available to come on-site to service organizations to help enroll community members or provide presentations about our comprehensive homeless services.

2020 Medi-Cal Expansion

+

As of January 1, 2020, full coverage Medi-Cal services are available to young adults between ages 19 to 26, regardless of legal residency status, as long as they meet income and other eligibility requirements. Full coverage Medi-Cal includes primary care, dental and vision services, as well as some specialty care.

Medi-Cal services also cover new childhood screening programs to support healthy growth and development.

Benefits Enrollment Center

San Diego Benefits Enrollment Center (SDBEC) assists low-income Medicare beneficiaries with enrollment in MSP, LIS, LIHEAP, Medi-Cal and SNAP.

A benefits screening can determine what entitlement benefits you may be eligible for. It takes less ten minutes to complete and is unique to you. It is completely free of charge and there are no obligations. Additionally, you do not need to be a patient of Family Health Centers of San Diego and you do not need to switch your health care provider.

CalFresh Enrollment

CalFresh is also known as the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). CalFresh is a program for low-income families and individuals that meet certain income guidelines. CalFresh benefits help supplement your food budget and allow families and individuals to buy nutritious food.

CalFresh benefits are accessed by using an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card. An EBT card is used the same way you would use a debit or ATM card. Eligibility and the amount of CalFresh benefits issued depend on your household size, income and certain living expenses.

Covered California Enrollment

Covered California is a private health insurance exchange that was established through Affordable Care Act legislation for individuals and families not eligible for Medi-Cal. This program allows California residents to purchase quality health insurance plans to fit individual and family needs.
