We are incredibly grateful and excited to welcome The First Lady to Family Health Centers San Diego (FHCSD). Dr. Jill Biden and President Biden have been fierce advocates for advancing cancer research and treatment for decades. With receipt of a $500,000 Accelerating Cancer Screening HRSA grant, FHCSD has been able to expand access to cancer screenings. For over 50 years, FHCSD has provided affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to San Diego County, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income and medically underserved patients. FHCSD cares for nearly 250,000 patients annually and has grown to become one of the nation’s ten largest Federally Qualified Health Centers. With over 90% of our patients living in poverty, we are proud to provide equitable access to those most in need every day.

The White House’s Cancer Moonshot initiative’s goal has a bold ambition: to build a world where the word cancer forever loses its power. At FHCSD, we are proud to be part of this partnership in collaboration with Dr. Biden, The White House and other research and treatment facilities to provide compassionate care while researchers work to ultimately find a cure for a disease that impacts millions of Americans. We look forward to Dr. Biden’s visit and the conversation with our staff to discuss this collaborative initiative that is critical to public health in San Diego and the entire world.
