Drug and alcohol addiction is a physical and psychological dependence on a substance despite harmful consequences. Addiction reveals itself in a variety of ways, including missing work or school, forgetting actions during social engagements and/or arguing with loved ones. Left untreated, drug and alcohol addiction can destroy relationships and impact a person’s professional and personal life for years.

Family Health Centers of San Diego’s dedicated team located at our Alcohol & Other Drug Services Center (3928 Illinois Street, San Diego, CA 92104) provide access to comprehensive, client-centered services in a welcoming environment, treating the physical and mental health of individuals seeking treatment for substance abuse. Our services are flexible to each client’s unique needs and type of care after discharge.

  • Support Groups
    Morning and evening sessions are offered at various locations around San Diego.
  • Individual Counseling and One-on-One Support
    We also provide our clients with information about our organization-wide counseling and mental health services.
  • Educational Sessions
    These sessions cover a variety of topics, including harm reduction, and connect clients with countywide services for HIV-positive adults
  • Hepatitis B, C & HIV Testing & Treatment
    Routine testing for Hepatitis B and C and HIV is offered at all clinic locations, as well as select community sites. Our team also provides referrals, resources and linkage to partner services. Please visit our HIV and Hepatitis Services page for more information.
  • Solutions for Recovery
    Turn the page on addiction and start a new life story. We offer nonresidential substance abuse treatment services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) individuals and intervention case work to HIV-positive individuals. Treatment services include a comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, goal setting, one-on-one counseling, relapse prevention and groups focusing on addiction, health, wellness and life skills. Orientation is held every Tuesday at 10:00am at 4040 30th Street, San Diego CA 92104.   • Safe Point San Diego
    Our clean syringe exchange program provides clean syringes to injection-drug users. The program also provides harm-reduction supplies, hygiene kits and referrals to support individuals ready to reduce or stop injection-drug use. We accept Medi-Cal and Medicare and provide low-cost and sliding scale fees based on income, eligibility and family size. We are funded in part by the County of San Diego Behavioral Health Services.
