Love Yourself, Protect Yourself and Know Your Status
Did you know 1 in 10 teenagers have been physically, mentally or emotionally abused by a boyfriend or girlfriend in the past year? Read our recent FamilyHealth Online blog entry to learn prevention tips. As part of this movement to encourage youth to “Love Yourself, Protect Yourself,” FamilyHealth at City College hosted a one-day #KnowYourStatus event providing HIV testing, counseling and health information to over 30 individuals. If you missed the event, you can still receive testing at most FHCSD clinics. Call (619) 515-2300 to schedule a screening today!
Blood Pressure Screenings Prove Successful
Almost 400 people checked their heart health and blood pressure as part of a one-day Love Your Heart event held in collaboration with Live Well San Diego. Participants from communities across San Diego, including FHCSD employees, also received information on how to keep their heart healthy, goodie bags, delicious snacks and more. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Creating Healthy Smiles for Kids
On Saturday, February 27, Grossmont Spring Valley Family Health Center hosted a FREE dental event for kids 1-18 years old, providing sealants, fluoride varnish, health assessments for kindergarteners and goodie bags. Walk-ins were welcome, but appointments were given a priority. Call (619) 692-8858 if you have questions about the next event!
